Granted, plenty of nerdy types are into comic heroes and mythology/fantasy genres, but there is another sect of nerds dedicated to skepticism (as linked to science, obviously) - the Carl Sagan fan boys/girls (myself among them)...it really depends on what you consider "nerdy."
