First Hangover 2 Poster and Teaser Trailer

Posted by wezzo On March - 29 - 2011

The Hangover 2 teaser trailer is out as well as the first poster. From what we understand the wolfpack reunites in Thailand for Stu’s wedding this time. Where to put it lightly, shit hits the fan.

Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha are all back, as well as Mike Tyson and Ken Jeong. Liam Neeson also appears in a role that was supposedly intended for Mel Gibson who got dropped from the project after the cast complained.

Super 8 Movie Trailer and Poster revealed

Posted by Jordan On March - 12 - 2011

The first teaser trailer for the J. J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg movie Super 8 did not reveal much. Sure, it was awesome to see a truck get hit by a train and explode, and then something forcing its way out of the train, but it didn’t reveal much about the actual plot. Now we have finally gotten a longer glimpse into what Super 8 is really about. Check out the trailer below for the longest look yet of Super 8.

Alright, let’s get this summed up nice and tidy. We have a small town sheriff, a group of precocious children, an escaped something, and a military presence trying to cover everything up. Super 8 looks like it has all the components needed to be a very good movie. Just the fact that both J. J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg are both involved in this project is a promising sign. This trailer still leaves a lot of questions unanswered, which is perfect from a marketing standpoint. It is obvious that the kids will be playing a big part in this movie, but it is unclear what kind of mischief they will get into. It will also be interesting to see the interaction between the small town cop and the military, especially since the cop’s son is one of the aforementioned precocious children. Perhaps the biggest mystery of all is what this thing that escaped from the train and is causing such an uproar is. The fact that it is never seen during the trailer is reminiscent of the hidden nature of the monster in Cloverfield, another movie J. J. Abrams worked on. Super 8 seems a lot less likely than Cloverfield to cause motion sickness, though.

Sean Hartter Makes Great Movie Posters

Posted by Jordan On January - 20 - 2011

The internet is a great place for artists to share their work and when that work happens to be custom made movie posters, we here at Humor District take interest. Sean Hartter happens to be making exactly that kind of art over at his blog, where it just so happens you can buy prints of said movie posters. Many of his movie posters take great movies and recasts them with different well known actors. The results vary, some of his actor choices make sense, while others are just absurd. They are all entertaining though. Here are some of my favorite movie posters by Sean Hartter:

Kill Bill Starring Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne

The Punisher Starring Jack Palance

Bizarro Starring Gary Busey

These examples should give you a general idea of Hartter’s work. If you find these as awesome as I do, make sure to get a couple prints and support an independent artist. You can even buy them for your favorite internet writer!

Fantastic Hero and Villain Optical Illusion Posters

Posted by wezzo On September - 16 - 2010

Hot off the buzz created around the awesome Star Wars Propaganda Posters comes another set of fan inspired movie posters titled Hero vs. Villian created by UK graphic designer Simon C. Page. The inspiration, as has been noted, most probably came from the cover of Batman: Two Faces, a DC Comic special published in ’98. It’s clear Simon is a massive Comic/Star Wars geek. Next time I’m in the UK I’ll definitely look him up, buy him a beer and give him a noogie. Huge amount of respect, but I can’t be seen letting my guard down – you know how it is.

If you’re interested, prints are available for purchase through inprnt.com, prices range between $25 to $80.

Awesome Star Wars Propaganda Posters

Posted by wezzo On September - 13 - 2010

Brilliantly made Star Wars propaganda posters for both the Rebel Alliance and the the Imperial Forces. Designer Cliff Chiang created the designs for the new Star Wars Galaxy 5 trading cards from Topps.

Cliff Chiang explains:

I recently drew a set of 3 Imperial Propaganda posters for the new Star Wars Galaxy 5 trading card set. I hadn’t intended to do more than one, but the ideas came fast and furious and the editor loved them all. This enlistment poster [above] was actually based on an old war bonds poster. While using Nazi propaganda would’ve been appropriate, it was actually more engaging for me to try and create posters that cast the Empire as saviors of the galaxy, especially on the heels of the Death Star 9/11 short.

Piranha 3D wants your Oscar Votes and so they should!

Posted by wezzo On August - 19 - 2010

I don’t know about you but I’m seriously looking forward to Piranha 3D which launches next week, 1 September. At first I was very confused by the trailer and “Straight to DVD!” I scoffed, but over time their marketing team have nurtured this little beast into my life enough to say “Oh OK I’ll give you a go Piranha 3D” to a point now where I’m all like “Hell yeah, let’s do this shit” & “Piranha 3D FTO” [For the Oscar, the last we shall speak about this]. Lets take you on that journey from confusion to air punches.

“Straight to DVD” I Scoffed

Piranha’s with glowing eyes, why the hell is Jerry O’Connell even in this oh yes how could I forget… Kangaroo Jack.

“Oh OK I’ll give you a go Piranha 3D”

The movie poster paying tribute to the Piranha 1978 film poster and original theatrical poster for Jaws. They mean business, by no means is this straight to DVD material.

“Hell yeah, let’s do this shit”

Kelly Brook & Elizabeth Shue in Bikinis frolicking on set? Bitch please…

“Piranha 3D FTO”

“Hollywood Treasure” Jerry O’Connell, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, Paul Scheer, Pornstar Riley Steele & Elizabeth Shue all begging, nay demanding a whole host of Oscars. Bravo, Encore, Encore, Bravo!

Oh and one last thing (via) Christopher Lloyed plays a scientist!!

Go on, tell me you are not going to watch this movie!!

Joaquin Phoenix I’m Still Here Crazy Movie Poster

Posted by wezzo On August - 4 - 2010

Casey Affleck’s documentary of Joaquin Phoenix’s crazy antics over the past few years has a September 10 release date. I’m Still Here, follows Phoenix as he try’s his hand at spitting rhymes as MC Phoenix (no lie) and his number of bizarre late night TV appearences, as well as what ever him and and his majestic coat and beard could get up to. Going for Soup Kitchen seconds maybe, I don’t know.

It all sounds like it’s baked in serious amounts of crazy but I can’t help but think the MC Fire Bird is trolling us hard, and I don’t know how I feel about that.

Don’t See The Takers

Posted by Jordan On June - 9 - 2010

The Takers is shaping up to be one of the worst movies ever made. Seriously, it looks absolutely awful. After just seeing the crudely photoshopped movie poster, you can already get the sense that this won’t be the next Godfather. What the hell is up with Paul Walker’s head? It is not even close to matching that body. Check out the poster and see the astounding amount hideousness they managed to pack in.

If you thought the marketing team dropped the ball on the poster, you will be shocked by the trailer. It is somehow even worse. When the trailer starts off explaining that takers take things, you know it only goes downhill from there. They somehow manage to get through a two minute trailer with nothing entertaining about it. The only appeal this movie might have is watching it with friends with the intent to ridicule every single part of the movie. Also, Paul Walker still can’t act. If you would like to hear terrible music and worse acting, check out the trailer below.

Splice Looks Spooky

Posted by Jordan On May - 4 - 2010

Splice is an upcoming movie about two genetic engineers, Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley, who are trying to create some sort of hybrid creature. Presumably the successful creation of such a hybrid creature would have all sorts of medicinal benefits or something. It is just a simple manner of mixing some DNA up and seeing what comes out. Nothing ever goes wrong in these movies where people try to play God.

Yes, that abomination is what they create. If that is what the future looks like I am giving up my search for immortality. I assume the rest of the movie is about how they regret ever creating that monstrosity as it attempts to eat their faces. The moral of this story is don’t mix human DNA with anything that is not cute and cuddly, and even then make sure it does not escape to prey on an unsuspecting populace. For those of you who didn’t get enough action/horror from the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, check out Splice on June 4th.

Jonah Hex Back in the Spotlight

Posted by Jordan On April - 27 - 2010

With the outpouring of comic book movies recently, one has almost been forgotten. Jonah Hex has not had much news, at least news that many noticed with the upcoming release of Iron Man 2 and the announcement that Chris Evans will be playing Captain America. Now Jonah Hex is trying to steal back some of that limelight when they premier the first trailer this Thursday on the SyFy Channel.

It is fairly surprising that a movie starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox has been discussed so little, but talk should begin to stir up again with the premier of the trailer. Jonah Hex is also one of the more violent comic books around, so this movie promises to have plenty of action. All in all, it seems like Jonah Hex has potential to be a quality movie, but has simply been lost with the emergence of other big name comic book movies. It will definitely have a different feel than Iron Man and Captain America, mainly because the plot focuses on a scarred bounty hunter in the wild west with a hint of the supernatural thrown in. Chances are Jonah Hex will remain overlooked, but I for one am eagerly awaiting the release of the trailer and the movie. Jonah Hex opens June 18th in theaters everywhere.
