Splice Looks Spooky

Posted by Jordan On May - 4 - 2010

Splice is an upcoming movie about two genetic engineers, Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley, who are trying to create some sort of hybrid creature. Presumably the successful creation of such a hybrid creature would have all sorts of medicinal benefits or something. It is just a simple manner of mixing some DNA up and seeing what comes out. Nothing ever goes wrong in these movies where people try to play God.

Yes, that abomination is what they create. If that is what the future looks like I am giving up my search for immortality. I assume the rest of the movie is about how they regret ever creating that monstrosity as it attempts to eat their faces. The moral of this story is don’t mix human DNA with anything that is not cute and cuddly, and even then make sure it does not escape to prey on an unsuspecting populace. For those of you who didn’t get enough action/horror from the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, check out Splice on June 4th.

Freddy Krueger is a Scary Man

Posted by Jordan On April - 7 - 2010

We already showed you the Nightmare on Elm Street poster for the upcoming remake, and that alone showed that Jackie Earle Haley is going to scare the crap out of us as Freddy Krueger. This new A Nightmare on Elm Street trailer lives up to that poster and takes the scare factor one step higher. After watching this I have decided to just stay up all night and leave all the lights on.

Jackie Earle Haley seems more and more like the perfect casting choice for A Nightmare on Elm Street. He uses the same voice he did when he played Rorschach in Watchmen, but it sounds far creepier coming from Freddy. The dream sequences seem pretty creative, there are some attractive ladies, and the shot of the two little girls might have been scarier than anything else in that trailer. Little kids are straight evil. Anyways, if the movie lives up to the trailer, I would not be surprised if Jackie Earle Haley returned for many more Nightmare sequels. Enjoy the trailer, and good luck going to sleep.

The Terminator is laying is wait, red-eyes-a-glowing to see who he will face in the championship.  Let’s not keep that evil bucket of bolts waiting.

VS.

(1) Joker – The Dark Knight

(1) Freddy Krueger – A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Battle: Who didn’t know it was going to come down to the battle of these two juggernauts?  Exactly.  The evil tale of the tape speaks for itself.  As far as Joker goes, Alfred said it best:

“Some men aren’t looking for anything logical, like money. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

And then there’s Freddy Krueger…a man (or dream demon) who just wanted to watch children burn.  Neither of them was looking for anything logical.  Just good sport.  Murder was a game to them.  I’m not really going to be able to find any distinguishable faults with either ones evil tendencies, so it’s going to come down to who did evil the best.  Freddy came up with some pretty elaborate ways to kill his victims, most notably, the time he scrapped his nails on a chalkboard until the child’s head exploded.

The Joker, however, organized a bank heist just so he could convince each of the bandits to kill each other (including sending one after himself) just so he could prove to the mob he was meaner than they are.

Okay, we could go back and forth for days, so let’s just cut the tendon on Freddy Krueger’s Achilles heel: if you’re not afraid of Freddy, he can’t really hurt you.  In fact, that was the whole premise of Freddy vs. Jason and many other Nightmare on Elm Street movies.  I don’t care how much you may think clowns are weak and funny…the Joker will still kill you the same.

Winner: The Joker

New Nightmare on Elm Street Poster

Posted by Jordan On March - 4 - 2010

There is a new poster out for the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and it’s pretty intense. You can’t judge a movie off of its poster, but that is one intimidating poster. Jackie Earle Haley will be playing the sweater loving psychopath Bill Cosby Freddy Krueger this time around, ensuring none of us want to go to sleep ever again. The guy was scary enough as Rorschach in Watchmen, let’s see what he does with an actual horror role. A Nightmare on Elm Street opens April 30th, 2010.
