Movie and TV Reviews, News, Humor, Top 5 Lists

Take Me Home Tonight looks like it will be a fairly amusing 80′s throwback movie, what with the wacky hijinks, humorous misunderstandings, and teenagers played by actors in their thirties. This isn’t a parody movie, so we don’t have to worry about seeing any Molly Ringwald lookalikes, at least I hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few tributes to famous 80′s movies. In fact, the cast has already been involved in an ode to just about every notable movie you can think of that was made in the 80′s. If you ever wondered what Topher Grace would look like as Marty McFly, watch the following music video and wonder no more.

This cover of “Don’t You Want Me” by Atomic Tom might not be the greatest song to listen to, but it was one of the best music videos I have seen. There are references to many of my favorite movies, such as Terminator, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Teen Wolf, and so many more. My favorite was definitely the Back to the Future gag. If Take Me Home Tonight is anywhere near as entertaining as this music video was, I don’t think it will have any problems in the box office. Which movie references were your favorite? 5 Sequels Better than the Originals

Posted by Jordan On February - 18 - 2010

It is a wide spread belief that movie sequels are never as good as the originals. Usually the sequel is only made because of the popularity of the original movie, which guarantees the following movie will rake in big bucks at the box office. Fortunately there are sequels out there that have proven this way of thinking wrong. These sequels are not only as good as the original movies, but a step above, ensuring a third movie will continue to earn our money. These are 5 sequels that have beaten the odds and surpassed the originals.

5) Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2

The first Spider-Man was surprisingly successful and well done, even if Kirsten Dunst was about the worst Mary Jane possible. Tobey Maguire was believable as the titular wall crawler, and it was an overall enjoyable movie. Then the sequel came, and what a sequel it was. The Green Goblin was replaced with the tormented Dr. Otto Octavius, AKA Dr. Octopus, who puts on a great performance. In the sequel Peter Parker struggles to accept the fact that his powers as Spider-Man put a tremendous burden on him and those around him. That’s pretty deep for a comic book movie, which made Spider-Man 2 vastly superior to the original.

4) Back to the Future 2
Back to the Future 2

The first Back to the Future movie was entertaining. The sequel built upon the comedy in the original, but also added in some murder and a set of guidelines for time travel. It was quite obvious that this sequel was not rushed out just to make some money, as the stories between all three of the Back to the Future movies intertwine beautifully. When the second installment ended in a cliffhanger, everyone knew that they had to see the third.

3) Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator was a great movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger was terrifying as a single minded killing machine. Then the sequel came and flipped things upside down. Arnold was once again a killing machine, but this time he was on our side. That should mean instant victory, but a new Terminator was created that was practically indestructible. Terminator 2 played out this conflict perfectly, and also had some great special effects. James Cameron truly was a master of the sci-fi action movie back in the day.

2) Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

The first Star Wars was good, but the second installment in the series is when all the back stories really started to get fleshed out. Not only do we get to meet Lando Calrissian, the only black man in the galaxy, but we see Han Solo frozen in carbonite and Darth Vader’s relationship to Luke and Leia is revealed. He’s their dad. I’d have said spoiler alert, but everyone already knows that. Look into your heart, you know this to be true. This is the movie that proved space operas are the best movie genre ever.

1) The Dark Knight
Why So Serious Joker

Once again we have a comic book movie sequel that was better than the already good sequel. Batman Begins was a great reboot for the series, and got to the dark and gritty soul of Batman before it became cliche. Then The Dark Knight showed up and blew us away. Let’s be honest, Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker is what made this movie. That was one of the best performances ever. The movie itself, with Batman’s internal struggle to do what’s best for his city, and the rise and fall of Harvey Dent, was amazingly written and acted. The third film in the franchise will have a hard time stacking up to this.

Top 5 Famous Cars in Movies and Television

Posted by Jordan On February - 11 - 2010

Nobody can deny the fact that a nice car can make a lasting impression. The same thing applies to the cars we have seen in movies and on television. Some of them just stand out so much they have been ingrained on our collective consciousness. Whether it is because of their special non-standard features, or their outrageous paint jobs, these are the 5 greatest cars to ever grace the screen.

5) The DeLorean – 1982 DeLorean DMC 12
DeLorean from Back to the Future

Unlike most of the other cars on this list, the DeLorean is not the fanciest or most expensive vehicle. In all honesty it is not a great car. Fortunately, Back to the Future immortalized the DeLorean as the coolest time machine ever made. Not only does the DeLorean transport you through the ages when you hit 88 mph and comes standard with a flux capacitor, but it has kickass gull-wing doors. I predict gull-wing doors will replace lambo doors very soon.

4) Black Beauty – 1966 Chrysler Crown Imperial
Black Beauty from Green Hornet

The Black Beauty is the ride of choice for the under appreciated Green Hornet. While Bruce Lee as Kato was undeniably the most bad ass part of the show, Green Hornet’s ride wasn’t bad at all. The Black Beauty was ultra sleek with it’s all black paint job and green highlights, and the gatling guns and smoke screens made it that much cooler. I for one am looking forward to seeing the new Black Beauty in Seth Rogen’s version of The Green Hornet.

3) KITT – 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
KITT from Knight Rider

KITT stands for Knight Industries Two Thousand, and as the large number implies, KITT was a very advanced car. Michael Knight, played by the incomparable David Hasselhoff, teamed up with KITT to stop crime, but we all know KITT ran the show. That’s because KITT had artificial intelligence and a bunch of crazy features including smoke screens, the ability to silence the engine, and being able to drive itself. KITT pretty much stopped crime while Hasselhoff sat around looking pretty, making KITT one of the greatest cars ever.

2) Eleanor – 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 fastback
Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds

Eleanor is from Gone in 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage as Memphis Raines, and is one of the greatest looking cars of all time. Eleanor is essentially Memphis’s holy grail, and that’s saying a lot considering how much that guy loved cars. He makes a great choice in Eleanor though and saves it for the last heist. It is almost physically painful to watch Eleanor take a beating during Memphis’s getaway, but she will always be remembered.

1)The General Lee – 1969 Dodge Charger
The General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard

The General Lee is the unmistakable Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard and is quite possibly the ultimate redneck vehicle, besides a lifted pick-up truck with a tarp used to create a hot tub in its bed. Yes, those actually exist. Even amongst unique vehicles like that, the General sticks out. The General is fast as hell, manages to land insane jumps without ever bending an axle, and has the most memorable paint job on either side of the Mississippi, all adding up to the most memorable car of all time.

Honorable Mention: The Batmobile
Original Batmobile

Alright, the Batmobile could not be left off this list. The only problem is there are so many different incarnations of the Batmobile, and some are definitely better than others. No matter which Batmobile you prefer, you can most likely think of several different Batmobiles and most of them are pretty bad ass. It is also one of the most easily recognized vehicles ever made, and thus earns itself an honorable mention.

Back to the Future Sex Scenes

Posted by wezzo On February - 11 - 2010

Marty McFly goes back to 1955 and has sex with himself, technically it’s not gay because well… it’s himself.

Masturbation with 2 twigs and 4 berries. OK, maybe gay. Throw his Mom in there and a couple more Marty McFly’s and it’s complete wrong sauce! Well played CollegeHumor, well played!
